Bayleys waves in new appointment to anchor North Shore operations

As Auckland’s commercial and industrial real estate sector positions itself towards recovery following a bumpy 24 months, the country’s largest full-service real estate agency, Bayleys, has announced a new steward to lead its Commercial and Industrial operations on the North Shore.

Simon Farland has been appointed the new general manager of Bayleys award-winning North Shore office, bringing more than two decades of diverse experience, including a tenure in the United Kingdom and senior leadership positions at several commercial real estate brands.

Bayleys national director of Commercial and Industrial Ryan Johnson says that as Auckland’s North Shore witnesses an increase in demand for premium commercial space, Farland’s appointment is well-timed.

“Simon’s extensive experience managing commercial teams and leading strategic growth initiatives will be essential as Bayleys continue to expand our presence in this market ripe for growth. His collaborative approach shares a distinct synergy with our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients, bolstered by the strength of our cohesive national network.”

Farland returns to Bayleys after initially cutting his teeth there as a broker in 2003. “I am drawn to the family-oriented values that foster teamwork and recognise the significant growth trajectory of the Bayleys business, typified by recent acquisitions of complementary services including business brokerage, mortgage solutions, and Australian real estate group McGrath.

“Collaboration is at the heart of our strategy, and I aim to strengthen our team by fostering relationships that drive value for our clients,” Farland says. “With a focus on leveraging Bayleys’ collective expertise, we can navigate the evolving landscape and continue to deliver optimal outcomes for clients and stakeholders.”

Bayleys’ ongoing investment in technology and talent will play a pivotal role in supporting Farland’s vision for the North Shore team. “I am impressed by Bayleys’ commitment to innovation and its dedication to investing in people, which are essential in adapting to market changes and ensuring we have the tools and expertise to outperform expectations.”

The North Shore continues to attract significant investment attention with planned infrastructure projects - including Penlink, which will connect the upper North Shore with the Whangaparāoa Peninsula, and strategic upgrades to the State Highway network in the northwest - reinforcing its status as a key growth hub for the region.

Bayleys general manager Auckland Commercial and national director for Industrial Scott Campbell, affirms that Auckland’s market is recovering steadily, underscoring the increasing value of local expertise as it consolidates after recent volatility.

“Being born and bred locally and actively involved in the community through coaching junior rugby and his ties to the Westlake College Old Boys Network, Simon is well-equipped to lead the team at Bayleys North Shore with local insight and integrity.

“In addition to his technical expertise, which will greatly benefit Bayleys’ executive team, Simon is highly regarded throughout the industry for his client-centric approach and exceptional ability to cultivate collaborative relationships.

“His leadership style is anchored in a strong commitment to team development with a proven record of delivering outstanding results. This is pivotal as Bayleys implements several high-impact strategic initiatives to enhance our collective offerings and reinforce our reputation as New Zealand’s largest full-service real estate network.”
